Sussex Health & Care has announced that more appointments for urgent dental care are being made available across East and West Sussex.

This development comes after a pilot programme took place between both of the counties. As a result of this, patients will have the ability to book same-day appointments, as well as longer-term courses of treatment.

Urgent dental care

As a result, is hoped that all local authority districts will be covered by the end of February. This news came from a rather brief BBC article.

Chair of the Local Dental Committee for East Sussex and Brighton and Hove, Nish Suchak, said:

“It is heartening to see how much can be achieved when all parties concerned work in collaboration for a useful service for the local population offering patients NHS dental treatment to get them out of pain and improve their oral health. I hope it can continue.”

My two-penneth

After the constant stream of doom and gloom I have to plough through for these blogs, I must give credit where credit is due on this occasion.

What I would like to know next, though, is if this (hopefully) positive and successful move will translate to other areas of the UK? Was Sussex a test area for a wider model?
